The Quality of Mercy (করুণার গুণ )

The quality of mercy is not strain'd.
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath. It is twice blest:
It blesseth him that gives, and him that takes.
'Tis mightiest in the mightiest; it becomes
The throned monarch better than his crown.
His scepter shows the force of temporal power,
The attribute to awe and majesty,

এটি স্বর্গ থেকে শান্ত বৃষ্টির মতো ঝরে পড়ে

এটি দুইবার আশীর্বাদপ্রাপ্ত: 

এটি যে দান করেন তাকে আশীর্বাদ করে এবং যে নেয় তাকেও ।

এটি শক্তিশালীদের মধ্যে সবচেয়ে শক্তিশালী; 

এটি সিংহাসনে অধিষ্ঠিত রাজার জন্য তার মুকুটের চেয়েও বেশি শোভনীয় ।

তার রাজদণ্ডটি সাময়িক শক্তির প্রবল চেষ্টা প্রদর্শন করে,

সশ্রদ্ধ বিস্ময় এবং মহিমার বৈশিষ্ট্য,

যেখানে রাজাদের ভয় ও আতঙ্ক বিরাজ করে; 

কিন্তু করুণা এই রাজদণ্ডধারীর প্রভাবের ঊর্ধ্বে;

এটি রাজাদের হৃদয়ের সিংহাসনে অধিষ্ঠিত;

এটি স্বয়ং ঈশ্বরের একটি গুণ;

এবং পার্থিব ক্ষমতা তখন ঈশ্বরের মতোই দেখায়

যখন করুণা ন্যায়বিচারকে প্রভাবিত করে ।

খাড়া পাহাড়ের ঢালগুলো এর অগ্রগতির বিরোধিতা করে,

এখন, এটি নিঃশব্দে তৃণভূমির মধ্য দিয়ে সমতল নহর 

এবং নিকষিত হ্রদে,

আপনি কি জানেন যে আপনার চুলের মধ্যে একটি মহাজাগতিক রহস্য লুকিয়ে আছে?

মানুষের চুলে পাওয়া ক্যালসিয়াম এবং আয়রনের মতো ক্ষুদ্র খনিজ পদার্থ জীবনের জন্য অত্যাবশ্যক এবং এগুলো আসে আমরা যে খাবার খাই তা থেকে । কিন্তু তাদের গল্প অনেক গভীরে... এবং আরো অনেক দূর পর্যন্ত বিস্তৃত । এ উপাদানগুলো আসলে কোটি কোটি বছর আগে বিশাল নক্ষত্রের কেন্দ্রে তৈরি হয়েছিল । যখন সেই নক্ষত্রগুলো তাদের জীবনের শেষ প্রান্তে পৌঁছেছিল তখন তারা অসাধারণ অতিনবতারা (Supernovae) বিস্ফোরিত হয়েছিল, যার ফলে তাদের উপাদানগুলো মহাবিশ্ব জুড়ে ছড়িয়ে পড়েছিল । সেই নক্ষত্রধূলিকণা অবশেষে একত্রিত হয়ে আমাদের সৌরজগৎ, আমাদের গ্রহ এবং এমনকি আমাদেরও গঠন করেছিল । তবে হ্যাঁ বিজ্ঞানীরা যখন বলেন যে আমরা নক্ষত্রের উপাদান দিয়ে তৈরি, তখন এটি শুধু কবিতা নয় । এটি আমাদের পরমাণুতেই সত্য লেখা আছে । ✨💫

উটের চোখের জল

বৈচিত্র্যময় প্রকৃতির মাঝে লুকিয়ে আছে অনেক অজানা রহস্য! উটের চোখ থেকে পড়া এক ফোঁটা অশ্রুতে রয়েছে বিস্ময়কর এক শক্তি । অবিশ্বাস্য মনে হলেও, এটিই বিজ্ঞানের চমকপ্রদ তথ্য যা বিষ-প্রতিষেধক (Anti-venom) গবেষণায় নব দিগন্তের সূচনা করেছে । 

উল্লেখ্য যে, ঘোড়া থেকে উৎপাদিত বিষ-প্রতিষেধক হচ্ছে এক ধরনের ওষুধ বা প্রতিষেধক যা বিষাক্ত সাপের বিষের বিরুদ্ধে কাজ করে । ঘোড়ার শরীরে সাপের বিষ প্রবেশ করিয়ে এটি তৈরি করা হয় । ঘোড়ার শরীরে প্রতিরক্ষিকা (Antibody) তৈরি হলে সেই প্রতিরক্ষিকাকে সংগ্রহ করে বিষ-প্রতিষেধক তৈরি করা হয় । প্রতিরক্ষিকা হচ্ছে এক ধরনের প্রোটিন যা রোগ প্রতিরোধ ক্ষমতা বা রোগ প্রতিরোধ ব্যবস্থার (Immune system) অংশ হিসেবে এটিকে শরীর তৈরি করে । যখন কোনো ক্ষতিকারক পদার্থ যেমন: ব্যাকটেরিয়া, ভাইরাস এবং অন্যান্য রোগজীবাণু (Pathogen) শরীরে প্রবেশ করে তখন এ প্রতিরক্ষিকা সেগুলোকে শনাক্ত, নিষ্ক্রিয় ও ধ্বংস করার জন্য কাজ করে । 

সংযুক্ত আরব আমিরাত এবং ফ্রান্সের বিজ্ঞানীদের বৈজ্ঞানিক প্রতিবেদনে প্রকাশিত একটি গবেষণায় দেখা গেছে যে, উটের অশ্রুতে এক শক্তিশালী প্রতিরক্ষিকা রয়েছে যা একাধিক প্রজাতির সাপের বিষকে (নিউরোটক্সিন ও হেমোটক্সিন) নিষ্ক্রিয়করণ করতে সক্ষম । এটি একসাথে প্রায় ২৬টি প্রাণঘাতী বিষধর সাপের বিষকে ঠেকাতে পারে । সত্যিই, একটি যুগান্তকারী সাফল্য । 

ন্যানোবডি (Nanobody) নামে আবিষ্কৃত এ প্রতিরক্ষিকাগুলো ছোট, স্থিতিশীল এবং সর্পবিষ বা বিষাক্ত পদার্থের সাথে আবদ্ধ (সংযুক্ত) হতে অত্যন্ত কার্যকর । ঘোড়া থেকে প্রাপ্ত ঐতিহ্যবাহী বিষ-প্রতিষেধকের বিপরীতে এ ন্যানোবডিগুলো উৎপাদন করা সহজ, কঠোর পরিস্থিতিতে আরো স্থিতিশীল এবং অ্যালার্জির প্রতিক্রিয়া হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা কম । 

পরীক্ষায় দেখা গেছে যে, উটের অশ্রুতে থাকা ন্যানোবডি বিভিন্ন প্রজাতির একাধিক সাপের বিষকে নিষ্ক্রিয় করতে পারে, যার মধ্যে রয়েছে ভাইপার এবং কোবরা । বিশেষ করে, প্রত্যন্ত ও গ্রীষ্মমণ্ডলীয় অঞ্চলে এটি ব্যবহারের জন্য নিরাপদ এবং আরো সহজলভ্য বিষ-প্রতিষেধক তৈরির ক্ষেত্রে এক সম্ভাব্য অগ্রগতি চিহ্নিত হয়েছে । বিশাল মরুভূমির মতো কঠিন জায়গায় বাঁচতে গিয়ে উটের শরীরে গড়ে উঠেছে এমন এক বিশেষ ক্ষমতা । মহান সৃষ্টিকর্তার সৃষ্টির মাঝে রয়েছে কতোই না রহস্য!

হাবল মহাকাশ দূরবীক্ষণ যন্ত্রের ধারণকৃত অ্যাবেল ২০৯ ছায়াপথ স্তবকের এটি সাম্প্রতিক ছবি, যা পৃথিবী থেকে প্রায় ২.৮ বিলিয়ন আলোকবর্ষ দূরে সিটাস নক্ষত্রমণ্ডলে অবস্থিত । ১৯৫৮ খ্রিস্টাব্দে জর্জ ও. অ্যাবেল দ্বারা সংকলিত অ্যাবেল ক্যাটালগে এটি অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয় । অ্যাবেল ২০৯ ছায়াপথ স্তবকটি অ্যাবেল ২২২ ছায়াপথ স্তবকের আশেপাশে অবস্থিত, যেখান থেকে এটি প্রায় ১৯.২ মেগাপারসেক (৬২.৬ মিলিয়ন আলোকবর্ষ) দূরত্বে বিচ্ছিন্ন । অনুমান করা হয়, অ্যাবেল ২০৯ ছায়াপথ স্তবকের লাল অপসারণ বা লাল স্থানান্তর (Red shift) হচ্ছে জেড = ০.২০৯ । অ্যাবেল ২০৯ ছায়াপথ স্তবকের বিশাল মহাসমাবেশে শতাধিক ছায়াপথ রয়েছে যার বেশিরভাগই মসৃণ ও সোনালী রঙের উপবৃত্তাকার হিসেবে দেখা যায় এবং সাথে মিশে আছে কয়েকটি নীল রঙের সর্পিল ছায়াপথ । দৃশ্যমান ছায়াপথগুলো উজ্জ্বলভাবে জ্বলজ্বল করলেও, তারা কেবল হিমশৈলের চূড়া । তাদের মধ্যবর্তী স্থানটি গরম এক্স-রে নির্গত গ্যাস দিয়ে পরিপূর্ণ । অ্যাবেল ২০৯ ছায়াপথ স্তবকে অন্ধকার পদার্থের প্রাধান্য রয়েছে, যা এর ভরের প্রায় ৮০ শতাংশ । অ্যাবেল ২০৯ ছায়াপথ স্তবকের শক্তিশালী মহাকর্ষীয় লেন্সিং সূক্ষ্মভাবে পটভূমির ছায়াপথগুলোকে ম্লান বা ক্ষীণ বৃত্তে বিকৃত করে, যা ছায়াপথ স্তবকের লুকানো ভর মানচিত্র করা এবং অন্ধকার পদার্থের বন্টন অনুসন্ধানের জন্য সরাসরি উপায় প্রদান করে । কারণ, অ্যাবেল ২০৯ এর মতো ছায়াপথ স্তবকগুলো মহাবিশ্বের বৃহত্তম আবদ্ধ কাঠামোর মধ্যে একটি এবং এদের বিশদভাবে পরীক্ষা করা হলে বিজ্ঞানীদের মহাজাগতিক কাঠামো গঠন, অন্ধকার পদার্থ ও অন্ধকার শক্তির তত্ত্বগুলো পরীক্ষা করতে সাহায্য করবে ।

You are the forerunner of this diverse nature.

In an unknown world of silence.

I search you desperately, at the edge of the infinite universe.
Not there either.
But what, in imagination?
Dear butterfly, you are undoubtedly heartwarming.
Your magical feelings move my being.
Maybe, an expression of the aesthetic beauty of love.
Oh butterfly, will you give me little place deep in your heart? 

The horizon

The endless blue sky.

The white clouds merge into the bluey.

The full moon descends to bathe in the sea.

What an intimate conversation is going on between them.

The distant horizon seeing and smiles shyly. 

The eternal form of the tide and ebb brings life to nature.

The land that holds the sea is in turmoil.

Color in the human mind, changes in the environment and so much more…

But there is a huge difference between sky and land.

Yet they merge into the horizon.

This is a unique beauty and fascination of nature. 

But what, sky and land ever meet at the horizon? 

Maybe so it seems.

Of course not, this is a misconception of people.

Still, people hold such a mistaken belief.

"সুন্দর রাত" (Die Schöne Nacht বা The Beautiful Night) হচ্ছে বিখ্যাত জার্মান কবি, নাট্যকার, ঔপন্যাসিক, বিজ্ঞানী, চিত্রশিল্পী এবং রাজনীতিবিদ জোহান ভোল্ফগাং ফন গ্যেটের একটি বিখ্যাত কবিতা । এটি মূলত Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre উপন্যাসের একটি অংশ । কবিতাটি রাতের সৌন্দর্যের একটি মনোমুগ্ধকর চিত্র প্রকাশ করে যেখানে প্রকৃতির নান্দনিক সৌন্দর্য, নীরবতা, শান্ত প্রভাব এবং নক্ষত্রের আলো মানুষের হৃদয়ে প্রশান্তি ও আনন্দের অনুভূতি জাগিয়ে তোলে । এ কবিতাটি রাতের সৌন্দর্যের প্রতি কবির গভীর উপলব্ধি এবং প্রকৃতির প্রতি তার ভালোবাসার বহিঃপ্রকাশ । জার্মান ভাষার সবচেয়ে প্রভাবশালী এ লেখকের বিখ্যাত রচনাগুলোর মধ্যে রয়েছে Faust, The Sorrows of Young Werther, Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre, Götz von Berlichingen (Goethe), Italian Journey ইত্যাদি ।

জোহান ভোল্ফগাং ফন গ্যেটে

সুন্দর রাত 

এখন আমি আমার প্রিয়তমের ছোট্ট কুটির 

ছেড়ে চলে যাচ্ছি; অন্ধকারের মধ্য দিয়ে, 

গোপনে, এক বিষণ্ণ নীরবতার মধ্যে, 

গাছপালায় ঢাকা উদ্যানে ঘুরে বেড়াই । 

যদিও লুনা ঝোপঝাড় এবং ওক গাছের মধ্য দিয়ে উঁকি মেরে দেখছে, 

মৃদুমন্দ বাতাস তার উপস্থিতি প্রকাশ করে; 

ভূর্জবৃক্ষরা নতজানু হয়; তারা সুগন্ধ ছড়ায় 

মধ্যরাতের বয়ে যাওয়া বাতাসে ।

এত সমৃদ্ধ গ্রীষ্ম রাতের শীতলতায় কি আনন্দ! 

কি নিস্তব্ধতা! অনুভূতির অন্তরাত্মা 

অকথ্য আনন্দে মেতে ওঠে । 

পরমানন্দ আমি খুব কমই সামলাতে পারি, 

নির্জনতায় জাগ্রত থাকার রাতগুলো,

তবুও আমি সেগুলো হাজার দিয়ে বিনিময় করব, 

তার সাথে এক রাতের জন্য ।

নক্ষত্রময় রাতের আকাশ

 In English, we say,

“It’s a starry night.”

But in poetry, we say,

“Silver threads stitch the velvet sky,

Whispers of light that never die,

Constellations hum their ancient tune,

A quiet dance beneath the moon.”

ইংরেজিতে আমরা বলি,

“এটি একটি নক্ষত্রময় রাত ।”

কিন্তু কবিতায় আমরা বলি,

“রূপালি সুতোয় সেলাই করা মখমলের আকাশ, 

আলোর ফিসফিসানি যা কখনো মরে না,

নক্ষত্রপুঞ্জ তাদের প্রাচীন সুরে গুঞ্জন করে,

চাঁদের তলদেশে একটি শান্ত নৃত্য ।”
